Can anyone use the open device lab?

Yes. Whether you're a web designer, app developer, business owner, community group leader or hobbyist - everyone is welcome.

What do I need to bring with me?

If this is your first visit please bring photo ID with you. Security is important to us so we'll make a copy of your ID for our records. We're sorry but we won't be able to grant access if you don't have ID.

Is there internet access?

Yes. Feel free to bring your own devices or laptop with you. You'll be able to connect to the internet here via WiFi or ethernet. We also have a PC set up with internet access and a range of desktop browsers.

What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason please let us know as soon as possible. You can call us on 0121 222 5780 (calls will be answered by Ballyhoo) or email us at to let us know.

Can I donate to the lab?

Yes please! If you've got anything internet-accessible (smartphone, tablet, wearable technology, games console, etc.) then please think of us before you bin it or sell it. You can also donate cold hard cash to help us buy the latest devices. For more information please visit our Donations page.

Is the lab accessible?

Yes. There are several disabled parking bays in our car park and the lab itself is on the ground floor. If you need special assistance during your visit please let us know beforehand so we can ensure you have everything you need.

What if I need the lab for more than 3 hours or out of hours?

If you would like to book the lab for more than 3 hours, for your exclusive use, out of hours or for any other reason, please send an email to with as much information as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate you. A donation towards our runnings costs is recommended and very much appreciated under these circumstances.
